Abbey Road Farm’s Unique Wine Offerings

Back in 2017, when Daniel and Sandi Wilkens took the reins of the property, it was a typical grass seed farm, chugging along with its Silo Suites Bed & Breakfast. They looked around and saw this incredible Willakenzie soil, smack dab in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, and thought it would be the perfect addition to the property to add a vineyard!

So, they rolled up their sleeves and got to work, teaming up with experts to turn their vision into reality. They were definitely interested in producing Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that Oregon has become known for.  But, they also wanted to shake things up a bit, to show the world that our neck of the woods could grow more than just those beloved classics.

You’ll find those luscious Pinots and crisp Chardonnays gracing the vineyard, in addition to a whole slew of other varietals like Mencía, Tempranillo, Cab Franc, and Trousseau Gris, just to name a few.  In the end, there are 16 varietals in total!

So, next time you’re sipping on a glass from Abbey Road Farm, just remember – it’s not just wine; it’s a testament to the Wilkens’ boldness, their willingness to push boundaries, and their commitment to showcasing the incredible diversity of our region’s terroir. Cheers to that!
